One of the things I find with model photoshoots is that I come back with literally hundreds of perfectly good images. They're in focus, the lighting is spot on and the model looks great. It's just that I have so many images, I feel like I may be spamming my viewer! To hell with it, here's some more shots of Desne, totally unseen before and too good to go to waste on my hard drives gathering dust never to be seen!
This photoset was shot in an abandoned factory in Sheffield. The factory used to manufacture products for the steel industry but as with all things industrial, Sheffield now only manufactures specialist steels and the supporting factories are long since gone.
For the lighting, I used a Godox AD200 on full power behind Desne with another AD200 on 1/8th power to her left and high up at about 3 metres. The softbox I was using was the very portable Roundflash collapsible beauty dish, quite expensive but has definitely been worth it!
The site is dusty, dirty, smelly and damp but that didn't dampen our spirits. The shoot was a laugh a minute and it's only when I got home to process the images did I realise how successful we'd been.
As a way of saying thank you to here on the Hive for his support, here's another shot of those legs you so appreciated! ;-)
MWA - Model with Attitude
Being very "northern" this photo sums up Desne quite well. She doesn't give a damn!
En pointe
I dismissed this shot as being a bit uncomfortable looking for the model. Turning the image through 90 degrees gives it a whole new edge. Still not sure about this one and I'm always up for constructive criticism.
Grime Crime
I promised myself the next time we shoot, we'll go to somewhere far cleaner and less bad for the lungs!
Peachy
I had a "surprise peach" Lee gel in my bag which looks like a pale, warm orange colour. The outfit Dense was wearing seemed to work well. Being a lightpainter normally I can't help but use colour gels behind a model, why would you not?!
Amazonian
Not quite sure why but I like my models to look "Amazonian" or strong and independant. Here I asked Desne to strike a strong pose like she ain't gonna be messed with!
Splits
Without any prompting from me, Desne adopted this pose and all I could think was if I did that they'd have to call an ambulance!
Demure
This is an example of a shot where I didn't notice a detail. Even when I processed it. The abandoned building we were shooting in was filthy. Notice Desne's black hand! Note to self, take something to clean up with next time!
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
