It's not often you get a chance to shoot with a model like Lanina. And a first for me shooting in a rain set and water tank. Of the models that turned up to this group shoot, Lanina was the one that to me, worked the hardest!
The shots below were all created on the same photoshoot with a bunch of friends and models. We arrived at 10am on a Sunday morning, not having seen each other for at least 2 years due to Covid. After the pleasantries and looks of surprise and general piss taking out of each other we set about shooting first on the rain set.
Lanina in the rain with fire
The rain set consisted of a roof mounted array of water pipes with spraying jets dotted equally around the roof. It's necessary first to let the water run for a short time while the water warms through.
It turns out that Lanina is a fire performing artiste. After some negotiations with the studio owner unwilling for us to burn down his studio, Lanina pulled out these hand held fiery objects.
Those damed LED lights
One of the problems with a group shoot is that you don't always get much of a say as to what appears in the image. Normally being a lightpainting photographer, I'm a big fan of LED strip lights but not in this case! The lights ruined the shots I got of Lanina and this was about the best of the bunch:
In to the tank she goes
Once we were done with the rain set, we moved on to the water tank. This was Lanina's first time modelling in the water and she took to it like a duck to water! I was amazed at how different Lanina looked in the tank from her fiery shots!
Falling
Lanina really was amazing at underwater modelling. We photographers stood with cameras in hand on the other side of a perspex screen furiously clicking away while Lanina swished away briefly surfacing for breath!
Reach out before you pass out
Lanina worked well with the other model here, Lucille. They'd never met each other before as far I know but they were so creative. No credit is due to me for the poses; this was the girls creating the poses!
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
