I'm a huge fan of abstract aerial photography. Those pictures which you look at and you have no idea what's going on in them were the main reason I was always interested in drone photography. And I saw a lot of pictures like that taken in Iceland. So once I knew that this is where I would travel. I bought my first drone.
And what can I say, Iceland is an absolute playground for this type of photography. It even exceeded my expectations because of the huge variety of different, strange-looking landscapes it offers: mountains from orange to blue due to geothermal activities, volcanoes, giant glaciers.
And of course, untamed rivers that are braided like most rivers would be in their original, wild form. These pictures were exactly what I was looking for when I bought my drone and I'm really really happy I found the right conditions to realize them.
Yet, I couldn't always fly because there was too much wind or it rained. And there are still some locations on my list that I wasn't able to visit. So for this (and many other reasons) I will definitely have come back to Iceland.
