Researchers call Staraya Ladoga the oldest capital of Russia. Its history dates back to 862, during the time of Rurik.
Finally, in the summer, we went to Staraya Ladoga. I was surprised to learn that this is just a village. Not far away is the city of Volkhov with its first hydroelectric power station, which was built by G.M. Krzhizhanovsky.
In Staraya Ladoga there is an old fortress with expositions and a church of the 12th century, convents and monasteries, an archeology museum with an exhibition hall for artists, a museum of merchant life of the 19th century. There is a restaurant and cafe.
On Saturday there were many weddings with the transfer of the bride across the bridge. The boys swam in the Ladozhka River.
