If I was back home I would have been busy chopping firewood, carrying it from the farm to the house and making big piles of them, but not this year. We are still traveling and the main activity of the day is going to the beach :)
The funny thing is that we are travelling north from our home but this seaside town is blessed with a very long summer and the signs of autumn are still very vague, almost unnoticeable.
It is almost the middle of October but as I was descending the stairs that lead from the parking lot to the beach of Arvanitia, I had already realized that it is going to be almost as crowded as in the summer! Arvanitia is the beach of Nafplio and you can go there of foot, from the town center. The difference from other town beaches is that if you look around you won't see any blocks of flats but the remains of a medieval fortification and a castle!
Of course that means that when you are having a bath in that sea, you are also part of a tourist attraction. It isn't out of the ordinary for tourists to take a look or even a few pictures of the beach while you are having your bath.
As Nafplio is one of the most touristic towns in Greece, you can see all kind of nationalities at the beach but it is the locals that are particularly fond of it. Actually this small coast is the home of the winter swimmers association and you can find a few of them swimming even in the middle of the winter!
Personally I prefer to swim at isolated, secluded places but I have to admit that having all the advantages of a life in a small town and the option of a beach like that, a few minutes away from your home, is a unique luxury!
I would say that this post is a perfect match for the #SublimeSunday tag by as well as the #beautifulsunday hosted by
