There are many signs that summer is coming and I am sure that each one of you has a personal way of becoming aware of its presence. For me is the thyme blooming. I interpret it as the most definite sign that summer is actually here and I think that the bees agree with me :)
I use to take a few pictures at the first day of each month trying to capture something relevant to the season or my mood. Today I had no doubts that I wanted to take a few shots of thyme flowers. I have taken pictures like that many years on the row but it is the first time I am using my (almost) new 100mm macro lens and that made the shooting a little more exciting!
Even if I wanted to avoid the bees (witch I didn't) it would be practically impossible. They are all over the thyme bushes working at a frantic pace, while the bee keepers are anticipating the harvest of the most precious honey of the year!
This specific photographic subject has a special significance for me. It was the exact same subject that fascinated and drew me back to photography when I had decided to stop being a photographer and I hadn't touch my camera for years. Today I feel that a cycle is closing. A cycle that began in front of a thyme bush with me holding an old, dated camera with a cheap lens and concluded in the same position with my new self, holding a new full frame dslr with a prime lens and more confidence than ever.
And this wonderful community has very much to do with it.
I wish you all, to have a wonderful month and a magnificent summer!
