This was the last quiet walk before the three-day festivities for the Clean Monday. Flocks of tourists are on their way or are already here and the town itself is getting ready for a few very busy and very crowded days.
Going somewhere else, less popular would probably have been a wise decision but we are expecting ourselves a few friends and family members to visit us, so we'll stick around too!
Anyway we haven't been here on that day before and it is an opportunity to see what the festivities look like for this once.
Who knows, maybe we might even like it :)
Clean Monday is a spring celebration. The tradition wants us to spend it in the countryside, having picnic with fasting foods and flying kites. If the days continued to be as sunny and warm as the last week, it would have been great. But as usual the weather seems to be totally indifferent for people's plans and the forecast is not the best possible for outdoors activities!
This time it won't be the passengers of the cruise ships that are going to overflow the town. It would be mostly Greek visitors from Athens, trying to combine the demand of tradition for countryside with the comforts of a small town. So small that looks like countryside indeed, in the eyes of the city folks :)
Of course there would be some foreign tourists too. There are always tourists in Nafplio, summer and winter. You can see them walking up and down the seaside path, soaking up as much sun as they can and keeping company to the few local winter swimmers :)
You can read this as the second part of this post, only this time I am moving backwards, from the end to the beginning :)
The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 850D with an EF-S 18-135mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic
All the pictures and the words are mine.
