In my last post I gave you a sneak peek into one of the most authentic Greek destinations, full of history and raw beauty.
Authentic though, can be difficult.
Hard to reach, with very few amenities and potentially adventurous in an unpredictable way. But many people prefer something easy for their vacations. A protected environment where they can enjoy the warm weather and the abundant summer sun without much effort or distraction.
So the big hotels and resorts were made, to satisfy the needs of all that people!
My personal taste for the ideal vacation lies elsewhere but I have visited many of those hotels as a photographer. The best part of those visits is walking on the well-paved paths around the gardens and of course my favourite time to do so, is dusk!
I find almost moving (as in emotionally touching) their effort to create a representation of real Greece in the limited space of a resort.
Totally fake but kind of cute too :)
At least the flora doesn't know that they are part of a simulation and they are as real as they can be :)
The indigenous trees and herbs are always a welcome note and spring is the best time of the year to be among them!
The location is the Rithymna Beach hotel at Crete and the time of the shooting is May of 2017.
