I consider myself as someone observant. I usually look thoroughly around me and notice even small things that many people will miss. Not only when I am taking pictures, this is a characteristic that I just have. Sometimes it's a hassle since I don't observe only pleasant or beautiful things but in general, I am proud of my sharp eye.
Last week I found myself in an exchange of comments under this post were I was referring towards people that don't notice, a bit disparagingly. Not in an unkind way but still not with esteem either. You can read the discussion under the link above, you might find it interesting too.
Anyway life came to remind me that we should think twice before we get judgemental about others only a few days after I wrote the aforementioned comments!
It was a while since the last time I got out with my macro lens just for the fun of it so I took my camera and went a few steps away, to the small park next to our workshop. It is a place that I pass by every day and usually more than once. I knew that it wasn't the best season for the flowers of the park but I had seen two kinds blooming and I thought to give it a try. I went straight to a big blooming bunch and took the first photos and I started looking around. Obviously more thoroughly than usual since I found not two, not three, not even five blooming plants but ten of them!
Frankly I was shocked! If I miss so much in my familiar environment what should I expect for more challenging situations.
So much for my, so called, sharp eye :(
Of course I was glad that I was wrong and I had so many wonderful flowers to take pictures of! Not to mention that I wasn't wrong only about the variety of blooming plants but about the light too. It was a bit late, there wasn't any direct sunlight on the park and I was under the impression that I was out mostly to take some fresh air and not for taking any worthy of note photos.
I don't know what you think of them but I am quite happy with the result!
I think this was the first time in my life that I was so glad that I was wrong!
Twice :)
The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 100mm f2.8/L macro lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic
All the pictures and the words are mine.
