Hey, hey everyone! š
How's the week going for you? Any plans for the weekend that is right around the corned? š
Happily, I can say that Romania seems like it can finally enjoy some nice weather which of course makes you want to spend more time out there instead of at home or at the office, so I couldn't resist and took my boyfriend and sister on a bike ride that was also the first one in 2022.
I know that it might sound a bit late thinking that there are only 2-3 weeks since the summer kicks in, but we had a belated winter with bizarre weather so better late than never! š
Since some good months passed since we last used the bikes, we began the journey by first getting the bikes out of the apartment and checking them carefully, swelling up the wheels, lubricating the bicycle chain and doing a few more check-ups before we finally begin pedalling on the way to the Sub Arini Park.
This is a pretty wild place with not too many benches or things you usually see in a park but more likely a massive forest that during the time it became populated by the locals when they want to relax a bit, away from the traffic noise.
The temperature was showing around 17-18°C which for me represents the perfect weather not to feel cold but also not to warm up too fast, so we did take a few breaks here and there to enjoy the landscape more because I missed all this green scenery and to see the sun up on the sky.
After a few more km pedaling, we reached a different side of the park which actually gets you to a less known neighbourhood but which is important for my boyfriend because that's where he lived for a while with some of his friends.
Over here we met some people who were fishing but also a little doggo that even though it had a collar around his neck, it seemed like he was enjoying a walk without his owner. He was so cute and friendly welcoming every person he was crossing by that we couldn't resist petting him and taking some pictures as memory if we don't meet again the next time we will cross the same area.
Even though the cyclocomputer was already showing that we had around 10 km pedaling, we decided to keep going and reached ASTRA Museum where we took a break at one of the tables from the yard and bought a drink since we were already running out of water and the shop from the museum didn't have water to purchase either.
This is an open-air museum that we visited for 2 times in the past and it's incredible how many tourists it gathers daily but since we couldn't enter with the bikes and we didn't want to risk letting them sit for hours outside of our sight, we decided to push even further after we rested for a while.
It might sound funny that after we sat in the saddle almost the whole ride we still felt the need to sit on a bench too, but the struggle is real with how uncomfortable the saddles are! š
Anyway, we kept paddling even more, almost reaching Rasinari village which we always cross with the car on the way to the place where we go for camping or a tasty barbecue, but due to the clouds that kept gathering on the sky and the few drops of rain we felt coming, we had to stop with just 1-2 km before reaching the village and return home, promising that we will follow the route in the future and even push our limits further.
We followed pretty much the same trail we were coming from getting through a tunnel that as much we liked it, as fast we started hating it having to cross a ramp that is quite inclined and made our heart rate jump quick from 120bpm to 180bpm, lol.
Though, the effort was well worth it, especially after we burned over 1,200 kcal while delighting our eyes with lots of beautiful sceneries offered by nature in the 22 km long ride we had as the first bike trip in 2022. š
