Lately most of my photography of flowers from my garden have been taken inside due to bad weather (rain and wind mostly) so a few days ago, a nice weather day, I took my camera outside and grabbed some shots of some of my hyacinths (Asparagaceae family) and I'm pleased with how they came out.
For something different, because I guess some of you are probably bored half to death of my photos already, I decided to add in a couple shots of the plants from their early beginnings, their leaves emerging from the earth. These are Pink Surprise hyacinths which flower in late winter/early spring so they're a little early this year but I'm not complaining. They are bulbs so, once planted, will come back every year. I also have Blue Jacket and Purple Sensation bulbs planted which are blue and purple respectively - the name gives it away I guess.
I was able to capture some water droplets on the plants thanks to overnight rain; being moist can make for much more enjoyment, right?
Because these hyacinths are in their early stages the stalk is still quite short but it'll eventually grow taller and hold nice little stalks of flowers to make my garden look very colourful. Unlike some of my other flowers I don't cut these and bring them inside, they sit in pots lined up outside my home-office window, mostly as a border for the large pots that hold taller trees, and in various other locations around the place. It's a nice little burst of colour and the contrast of pink on green is pleasing.
Thanks for taking a look at my images and feel free to comment below if you'd like to engage with me about your own hyacinth varieties, flowers in general or your own gardening exploits.
