For images I put into this community I use my Olympus camera and think I've not posted here with exclusively smartphone-taken images before. I thought I'd give it a try and, because today was such a great day, clear and cool, I walked out my front door and headed across the road to the conservation park, smartphone in hand, and during my hike grabbed a few pictures I thought might be ok to share here.
I don't think there's any spectacular photos here, just a few colourful images that demonstrate how cool and colourful it's looking over there at the moment and how the colours of the sky, greens of the grasses and various winter flowers combine.
Those grasses are getting taller day by day but will eventually die off and go a crispy golden brown colour in the heat of summer but for now this is what they look like and I wandered along wading through thigh-high grasses and flowers enjoying the warmth of sunlight on my back and trying not to think about all the snakes I was walking past.
The Eastern Brown snake is considered the second most venomous land snake in the world and those bastards live right across the road from my house...where I was hiking today. They're hibernating though, (otherwise I'd not be walking around like I did today), so it was reasonably safe. Come September they'll be out looking for sex for the purposes of reproduction and they can be aggressive when they wake up and realise they want to get it on with each other so I keep to the paths where I can easily see them should those two-metre-long snakey bastards are easier to spot. They have been seen basking on warm winter days at temperatures down to 14°C but I've never seen one in the cool weather so I'm reasonably safe at the present moment.
Today, I was free to do as I pleased, as long as I didn't stap into a snake pit, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hike up the hill and back for a couple hours.
Even though so many of the photos in my posts are taken with my smartphone rather than with my camera it's a little different for me to post them here in the Photography Lovers community so I hope they're suitable. That aside though, I enjoyed the hike, the phonetography session, and generally being out there with nature.
Feel free to comment if you'd like, tell me (show me) your favourite outdoor hiking/walking location or just comment on my photos if you'd like; I'd like to hear from you if you're into engaging with others in the blockchain.
