Capturing the excitement and energy of a motoprix event through sports photography can be a thrilling and rewarding experience. However, it also comes with some difficult points that photographers need to keep in mind.
Motoprix events are held in various locations across the country, and one of the circuits is Taman Kota Sampit. Located in the city of Sampit in Central Kalimantan, this circuit is a popular destination for motoprix events in my region. The circuit is approximately 6 km long per lap and features a combination of straight roads and turns, providing a challenging and exciting track for riders and photographers.
This circuit is a modified road circuit for motoprix purposes. In my city, Sampit, Central Kalimantan, we do not have a world-class standard circuit yet. However, this is the only circuit we have in our city. And of course, this event also aims to find young promising talents who will eventually advance to the national championship.
The length of the track of this circuit is relatively short, only about 6km per lap, which certainly makes the riders have to trigger their motorcycles as quickly as possible. With only 6 laps in each racing session in various classes, it certainly provides its own entertainment for the community in my city.
When photographing at Taman Kota Sampit, it is crucial to familiarize oneself with the layout of the circuit and the best viewpoints to capture the action. Finding a place where we can capture riders at high speeds or in challenging turns to showcase their racing skills and excitement.
One of the most significant challenges of sports photography is capturing fast-moving subjects. Motoprix events involve riders moving at high speeds, which can make it difficult to capture sharp and focused images. To overcome this challenge, we need to use high shutter speeds and proper focusing techniques.
In addition, one of the best techniques for capturing racing moments is to experiment with panning techniques. The panning technique itself makes the subject in our image appear to be moving, which will make our photos more dramatic and more realistic when photographing motoprix events.
Using panning techniques certainly requires practice, and using the right gear can also be very helpful when taking photos using this technique. In my photo, I used a shutter speed of 1/30 with an aperture on the lens ranging from f8 to f16 and the lowest ISO.
Moreover, sports events often take place in challenging lighting conditions, such as bright sunlight or dim light. In motoprix events, we may also face additional challenges when photographing in shaded areas that suddenly turn into bright sunlight. To overcome this challenge, we must be familiar with camera settings and adjust them to get the best shots. Investing in the right equipment can be expensive but is crucial to capture the best shots.
Overall, sports photography at motoprix events can be challenging but also very rewarding. By preparing for fast-moving subjects, unpredictable actions, challenging lighting conditions, security issues, and equipment requirements, we can capture stunning and dynamic shots that show the excitement and energy of racing. Remember to keep practicing, experimenting, and pushing our limits to achieve the best shots. With dedication and perseverance, we can make images that capture the essence of motoprix events and thrill racing fans.
