How to shoot and edit animal beauty portrait
Hi, all community members of photography. Here I want to share some of my experiences with shooting my kitten. Of course, you can apply these tips to your pets too.
Just for your information, my kitten is about eight-month and very shy with other people, so it's tough to take a photo of my pets if I can get help from another person.
Here is the tips
My first tips are to ask for help from people who will help me invite my kitten to play with toys that my kitten likes. So that during the photo session, my kitten gets used to the person's presence and is not disturbed by me taking pictures using the camera. Because my kitten has a vast curiosity when I hold the camera, he will approach me, and of course, the photo session will not be able to do.
The second tips is to prepare a place for the photo session, be it a background or other property, and let our pets play in the area so that later during the photo session, our pets will always stay within reach of the camera frame. Of course, this will make it easier for us to get various funny points of view.
The third tips is to make sure your favorite pet is in play mode and has eaten enough so that later when your assistant holds the toy, your pet will play very attractively.
And the fourth tips is to make sure your camera and lighting are set in the correct position, so this will save time in taking photos because we never know when the mood of our pet will change.
Then in the editing process, I will usually do a minor retouching on the background so that the resulting background color is evenly distributed. Like the example, I included below.
I selected the objects first, then used a soft edge brush, so the fur on my pet is also pretty well set. Then do an inverse so that the selected object swaps with the background, and the final touch is to lower the curve so that the ground becomes completely black.
If you use a colored background, you can match the color by using a brush tool, but before you use it, you can choose the color with color picket tools and choose the right color that will be matched with the ground.
Ok, I think that's all the tips I can give this time. Maybe next time, I'll include BTS when shooting.
