It's that time of the year again. Every summer I photographed these gorgeous and rare clouds that sometimes appear at the night. I have seen them for the past 3 nights and captured 2 of them.
I have told you several times here in the past why these clouds are rare but let's do it again shortly for those who don't know.
Glowing night clouds are the highest clouds in existence here on our planet. They don't consist of water vapor as other clouds do. These are so high that they are small ice crystals. These are rare because most of the world cant see them. These are visible only in the northern part of the world, I don't remember the exact latitude, something between 50 and 65degrees latitude and Estonia sits right in the middle.
You also need nights that do not go dark but also nights that aren't too bright too. Because the sun needs to light them up from the right angle for you to see them, then the ice crystals will reflect the light and you see the clouds.
These clouds are only visible in the summer and mostly in July and maybe early August too. Glowing night clouds also often make awesome patterns in the sky and that's why it's so gorgeous to see.
Here is the shot I took 2 nights ago out of my window.
Then the following shots are taken 3 nights ago. Not so spectacular pattern but still cool to see.
I hope that this summer gives me plenty more opportunities to get awesome shots of these clouds.
