It's Sunday again and that means I will post some sunset ore sunrise pictures! I am still better in sleeping in than going to bed early so that's probably why I have more sunset pictures!
These pictures I took wen I was driving back home! In the distance I saw clouds appearing and the time was pretty good to, so I decided to look for a place were I could see the sunset!
At that time I was coming from Amsterdam and close to that is my birth town of Vinkeveen!
And there I know all the nice spots to go look at the sunset!
Vinkeveen is a town that has a big recreation area of water around it! But it's all men made! Thousand's of years ago, this area was a big swap! And in the 15th century they discovered how they could dry it out by pumping out water trough windmills! So that they could life on it and grow food there!
They had to dig out ditches to drain the water, and then dried it on patches of land where the peat was created! They could use the peat for cooking and for warmth in the winter! The great open water was created after they discovered sand underneath the peat! That was taken out by suction dredgers and they used it to build residential areas in Amsterdam.
The big holes filled up with rain and ground water and now you can swim in it!
There is a nice bar restaurant near this part of the water, an ideal for spending warm summer days!
This wooden poles are to protect the land and make it easyer to park you big boat here!

There is still a lot of reed growing in this area. They still use it as roofing material for the hundreds of years old farms in the surrounding areas!
