After getting my Fujifilm X-T4, I spent a lot of time researching on what lens I would need for the photography that I do. I am mainly a portrait-girl so obviously I should get a lens specifically for portrait. :p
I already got an 18-55mm "kit" lens for casual use and a 23mm f/2 for a wide photography (probably a street photography with people or similar). I could use both of those lenses for portrait too but I want the best for me (lol) so I found out about this 50mm f/1 of Fuji and I instantly fell in love.
Unlike other Fuji lenses, this 50mm was released in September 2020 which was one of their recent lenses.
Yes, it's fucking f/1 !!!!
And apparently it's the world's first f/1 lens that has autofocus!
It's autofocus is also faster than other Fuji lenses (if not the fastest?) and it's weather resistant. And it's fucking f/1 hahaha. Basically better bokehs and just sharper overall.
All photos were taken on Fujifilm X-T4, 50mm f/1
I'm a natural-light kind of fun-photographer and because of my messed up sleep schedule, I had to take these at 5pm which was already getting dark, so this was a low light environment. I also used a light that gives a sunset effect but still not that much so I was pretty much impressed with the shots. I mean, the aperture is f/1 sooooo.
In my previous camera (Nikon D3200), the autofocus on the lens got rekt, so all I did was focusing it manually. All these autofocus settings were kind of strange to me and Fuji has A LOT of autofocus settings which made me confused AF.
So yes, I made a mistake of not turning on the face detection for the autofocus so I was kinda having a hard time focusing it properly - like the camera would focus on my hair rather than my face haha. I forgot what the settings was before I fixed it but yeah it was pretty much a big mistake taking shots on AF without even exploring the settings lol.
After turning the face detection tho it was pretty much smooooth.
Just look at that BLUUUURRRRRR
This time it was already dark so I had to use my ring light but still the light was too harsh lol. Fortunately, Fuji's RAW is really good so I was able to easily adjust them on post processing.
I wanna focus on the face first, so not much movement or whatever on the shots. Kinda boring but I will play with lights next time. :D
I really like the choice of what-to-focus and what-to-blur of this lens. Really perfect for what I need!
And here is a half body shot. The sharpness of this lens really brought out the full potential of this camera. The background looks like some studio background but it's just my cabinet lol.
Having a proper gear is important - and the reason why I lost motivation in taking photography (and potentially learning more) is cos it was really getting hard to take photos on my previous camera. In my Fuji, I can just flip the screen (which was actually perfect for me as I take self portraits) and use my phone as a camera remote since I can connect the camera to an app. :3
I still have lots of things to learn but I'm glad I invested on my passion that I almost forgot about.
