Some sunsets will always be remembered, like this one you can see in the photos. This place is Solang Valley which is a part of Himachal Pradesh located in the north of India. From here the routes to Lahaul-Spiti, Pangi, Ladakh and Zanskar valley open. Well, let's come back to the sunset and tell you when I started noticing the setting sun.
It happened many years ago when I was going to Kanyakumari on bicycle which was 3500 km away, Kanyakumari is the end of India after which comes the Indian Sea. It was a 30 day long cycling and I was alone, so I would set out every morning at 7 am and look at the sun every day while cycling...it felt as if it was going with me to Kanyakumari and I had a friend with me on this journey. Kind of included, since then I have fallen in love with sunsets and sunrises which has never ended till date.
Since I spend most of my time in the Indian Himalayas, I rarely get to see the Sun because the horizon is not visible from the high mountains here, hence I cannot even see the Sun God. But yes, I see its shine, its light and its rays every day. And just seeing this gives me immense energy with which I spend the whole day.
All these photos are of sunrise in Solang Valley. The sun is setting behind the crown of the mountain in which Bhrigu Lake is situated. The lake is situated at an altitude of 4400 meters and the top of the mountains is at an altitude of about 4750 meters. Whenever I have been to Bhrigu Lake, I have never been able to go to the top of this mountain, but while writing this post, I thought that next time I go to Bhrigu Lake, I will definitely go to its top and see the beauty of the valley. What is visible on the other side?
On the day this incident happened, light snow had fallen in the Solang valley and the upper mountains had been covered with a blanket of white snow. The temperature had dropped to zero degrees and cold winter wind had started blowing. When the snowfall stopped, the dark clouds started leaving the valley and moving into Lahaul valley, after which it became evening. No one was sure that the sky was going to look miraculous today.
As soon as 5 o'clock in the evening, the sky started looking like burning flames. It seemed as if nature had found this unique way to provide warmth to all the vegetation covered under the snow. Every tree and flower started enjoying this warmth in unison and after seeing this scenario I could only think that “I am a part of nature and I should also enjoy it”, and then what happened after coming out of the room. Also became a witness to this scenario.
