Sometime ago, I mentioned that I purchased the last camera bag that I would ever need in my life. The sad part about this statement is that it is now full. Also, it isn't really a bag. It's more of a case.
Pelican is renowned for making cases that hold gear and make sure that its safe and protected. Given that my camera gear is worth a decent used car these days (or, a really terrible new car) - it is important to protect it.
It is also important to ensure that it stays in one piece enroute to jobs, allows easy access to my gear, and is something that is easy to secure, as well.
So that you can get a sense of scale... here's a ruler, and a tape ruler (the ruler is displaying centimetres (for those of you who metric), and the other is inches.. for you imperials ;)
I've used the case now on two occasions, and it has not let me down. One for a wedding; the other for a casual shoot yesterday; and I'm very happy with the $400AUD I paid for the case.
What is within? Well, like every good onion, it has many layers.
The top compartment has netting to ensure that the gear doesn't fly around if you want to access something from the later below. Unzipping it lets you get at the gear. This top layer is my most used gear.
From left to right, top to bottom:
Compartment 1:
2x Filters
1x Godox Wireless Trigger
1x Bag with 5x Nikon EN-EL15 batteries
Compartment 2:
Godox TT685N Speed Light
Compartment 3:
Nikon Z6 w/ 24-70 f/2.8 Lens
Compartment 4:
Nikon Z 105 Macro
Compartment 5:
Godox TT685N
Godox Speedlight Modifier kit
Compartment 6:
Cleaning Cloths
Compartment 7:
Nikon Z 14-30 F4 Lens
Compartment 8:
Nikon Z 85 f/1.8 lens
Compartment 9:
Nikon Z5 with 35mm f/1.8
That is the top layer of the onion... what about the bottom?
This is where I keep things that I do not use as often, or once I take them out of the bag, they stay out for the rest of the shoot. This includes:
Compartment 1:
Speedlight Magnet Adapter
Body Caps
FTZ Adapter
Compartment 2:
Additional Memory Cards
Body Caps
Double A batteries for Flashes
Compartment 3:
Nikon D750 with 105 f/2 DC Lens
Compartment 4:
Peak Design 2x Camera Strap
Compartment 5 & 6
Godox AD200
Compartment 7
Tamron 70-200 F/2.8 v2
This kit barely fits in my car, and there's a second bag I take with me that contains a light stand, light modifiers, beauty dish, and other bits and pieces that let me do magic with light.
What is in your kit bag?
