& other faces. once upon a time, i took a long walk down the autumny streets of prague, and made some friends. lost them in the meantime, but i still got a couple memories. i'm a big fan of atlases and gargoyles. of faces, in general. always intrigued that people just wander by, ignoring them. as though they weren't really there. you know?
these folks holding up our feet. keeping us breathing. that someone poured such care and effort in. i'm not tryna be clever, though it's true i could be talking people just as well. the careless ways in which we sift each other past. the lovingly sculpted noses others set out to break or simply take for granted.
i just wanted to show you the pictures. i just wanted to relieve the bleakness of winter, to relive an autumny day. to relieve the weight of my camera in my hands. it's never only one thing.
i particularly like these last guys. the weary and the hopeful. the protective mesh, protecting whom? the way it kinda makes it seem like they're lugging a building around inside a mesh sack. we stopped doing that, you know. expecting ordinary backs to hoist up our worlds. we just rely on gravity, instead. suppose that's why all my pictures are shot from below. :)
