We visited Aberdour in Fife, Scotland for my wife's birthday last weekend. We managed to catch the sun setting over the Firth of Forth while there. This shot is taken from the headland to the East of the village - and right in the distance you can just make out the peaks of the Forth Rail Bridge.
I was hoping to get a closer picture of the bridge, but only had my (old) phone with me - you can make out the iron work structure in the picture below.
The Fife coastal path takes you along the shore at Aberdour, through its harbour and then up to this headland, which used to be some kind of military base. Now it has light to warn ships from the rocks.
Aberdour is a beautiful village, and has its own castle to boot, and lovely beaches. Taken from the headland here is a different angle, again looking towards the bridges and capturing the old derelict pier.
Just prior to going up on the headland, we took a walk along the harbour wall in town, just as the sun was beginning to set - it looks like the clouds are emanating from the golden glow - it was just stunning, and I loved the silhouetting of the hills over in the Lothians.
Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time - but by heck was it cold !
