Dawselflies, also known as damselflies, are insects belonging to the order Odonata, suborder Zygoptera (Lilies S., Christina, 1991). Dragonflies are usually divided into two large groups: dragonflies and damselflies (Amri and Toguan, 2008).

The common characteristic of this needle dragonfly is its long, narrow, and slender, needle-like body shape, hence the name needle dragonfly. The needle dragonfly lives in rivers or swamps with clear water, primarily to lay its eggs to ensure its survival.

Dragonflies are known as animals that live on land and in the air. However, in reality, these animals have the ability to survive underwater for up to two years. This is possible because these odonata lay their eggs in water. These dragonfly eggs, which become larvae, remain underwater for approximately two years.
After hatching and molting up to 17 times, the dragonflies emerge and take to the surface to take to the air. Similar to adult dragonflies, these young dragonflies, which remain underwater, are also highly skilled and agile at catching their prey.
