I don't know anything about Newborn Photography! All I know is I just want to help capture memories for my brother and sister-in-law's firstborn child. Alex is his name, just about 2 months old and he already got this weird stare as if he damn knows what you're thinking about or planning to do.
Born on the last week of September, we only did this DIY photoshoot in the first week of November. Thus, a "not-so-newborn" shoot. Checked the internet and apparently, the ideal time for newborn photoshoots should be 2 weeks after the mother gives birth. I did mention to the parents to hire a professional photographer but they didn't seem to have the intention for it. Perhaps they just want to save some bucks or they just didn't have the time and energy to plan it because being first-time parents is damn crazy. Oh, now I remember, the mother said, they don't want to risk contracting the virus.
The Set-up
So here I am, offered them a DIY version. The same thing I did with our DIY Maternity Photoshoot. Nothing fancy, just trying to be resourceful and creative given that I only had 5 days to prepare before the actual session. So sister-in-law and I brainstormed for the theme, not sure if picking out the colors is enough for you to call it a theme 😂. So we ended with choosing mint green, gray, and white to be our main colors. 3 days from the actual session, we went to the mall to buy some cloth with our desired colors, a white stuffed toy bunny, and a basket.
To be honest, I'm unprepared for this. Most of the time, it's just a matter of letting it all flow on the day of the actual event or activity hoping everything works out for the best. We did the shoot here at home and we allotted the whole day for this impromptu shoot. Everything went well except for that moment Alex pooped on our very first set. We got him naked and seemed like he didn't like it. 😂
THAT MOMENT HE POOPED. 😅
A month went by before I was able to do some post-editing. I had to drop some other activities so I can finally focus on this one. It took me a while because of busy schedule. Editing really takes a lot of time for this one. I had to edit the photos one by one ( still on my first few batches 😭 ) but I'm hoping to be able to finish everything this week ( or before the year ends 🤣 ) so I can focus on my other self proclaimed projects. Anyways, sharing some photos from first few batches.
Photos taken using my old trusted Fujifilm X-A3. Edited in Adobe Photoshop.

That All-Knowing stare I was talking about. 😂
Batch 2
That lucky shot where he smiled. 😅
I swear you guys, one moment he is acting cute, the next he damn gives you this freaking look like he ain't liking what you doing to him. 😅
Batch 3
The basket was a bit small but we had to make it work.
In reality, it was so hard keeping this guy stay asleep or awake without crying 😂.
Don't be deceived by this angelic look! 😂.
Can't let this one go though. He looks cute here.
Another "All-knowing" stare from my man. 😅
