"Cherry blossoms were as much an inspiration for beautiful verse as they were a reminder of life's fickleness." -Anonymous
How I wish I could see real cherry blossoms and be in love with them as they bloom. has been sharing blogs about cherry blossoms and I so love seeing them, especially his professional photography skills. I wondered where to spot real cherry blossoms in this country as I'm only seeing fake ones. While writing this article, I decided to search about it online and there I found some good places to visit some other time. And I thought I need to catch them before they withered.
During CNY here in Hong Kong, you'll be seeing a lot of cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, most of them aren't real and are just artificial displays for CNY. There are some real ones though, but we seldom buy ones because they don't bloom well at home.
While wandering around Shatin on my last day of the CNY holiday, I came across a part of New Town Plaza and spotted a place with cherry blossoms. Not real ones though, but the thought of seeing cherry blossoms always excites me. I've been seeing photos on FB about this place and I didn't expect to see it while looking for a place to rest and eat my dinner. More places in HK have turned into cherry blossoms gardens as part of CNY displays.
The cherry blossom trees are located in the resting area of New Town Plaza. There are two big cherry blossom trees standing apart which serve as attractions to visitors. The backdrop is a 3D wall with cherry blossom trees, which add several cherry blossom trees effect, making the place look like Japan or Korea.
The wide green space has some crafted benches which serve as resting places for visitors. I find a spot to settle so I could eat the food I took out for dinner. I was waiting for the people to vacate the place so I could take photos of cherry blossoms, however, the visitors just kept coming. In the end, I was able to position myself under cherry blossom trees at night where there was no light, making the cherry blossoms not that pink in the camera anymore. And that's where I got the title of this post.
Meanwhile, inside the New Town Plaza are cute bunny displays. It seems like all parts of HK have bunny installations.
It's the start of Spring. Soon, I'll be seeing real cherry blossoms.
Happy weekend everyone.
