Last weekend, I happened to visit Tsim Sha Tsui 1881 Heritage and thought of entering the house since I never explored the inside part of it. You will read a full blog about 1881 Heritage one of these days. For today, I'll show the former Hullet House which is now called FWD House 1881 named after the subsidiary company FWD which rented the heritage house. This place, by the way, was the former marine police headquarters compound in the 1900s.
The hotel has neoclassical architecture that looks stunning at night. There are ten suites, five fine-dining restaurants, and a bar in this luxurious hotel. I was fortunate to enter the house, explored some parts of it, and saw those fine-dining restaurants they are referring to. Not all though as some parts are private.
From the hallway to interior designs and decorations, windows and doors, all are traditionally inspired to retain the original cultural elements of the place. The first room I spotted was The Cell. The former jail cell for pirates and smugglers was turned into a luxury bar serving a cocktail menu.
I also spotted the Tea Room which has a Chinese traditional concept. It the definitely the place where hotel customers are having tea and it also seems like a gathering place for different occasions.
There are couches along the hallway where visitors can rest.
On the upper floor in my search for the lady's room, I came across another fine dining place The Steak Room which serves high-quality beef from all parts of the world. This has been one of the best Tatler Dining restaurants in 2021. From the description itself, you can guess the price of the steak menu.
While walking along the hallway, I spotted the The Queen door which was closed and probably has another way to get in. This restaurant was inspired by the Victorian-era site of 1881 Heritage. It serves traditional Chinese food like dim sum and more.
At the center is the courtyard where probably small band performances and other events are held.
At the back is the Araki named after Chef Mitsuhiro Araki who personally serves his best-renowned sushi. It was a former stable block where horses were housed back in the time.
The courtyard has a wide pathway which is the best place to walk or unwind surrounded by trees. This is prettier at night when the lights on the bushes are on. The place looks stunning and enchanting.
There is one place I didn't find which is the French restaurant in this hotel.
Meanwhile, at the bottom floor of the house is this room with certificates and trophies of awards for the 1882 Heritage House. Their number tells how excellent the hotel is.
That's all for today's blog. Have you ever dined in a fine-dining restaurant? What was your experience?
