Hello friends, good vibes to all.
These days I grabbed my camera again with the same intention as always, to spend some quiet time, relax and in this case look for new friends. When I decide to take pictures is because just in those moments I feel the need to take them, personally I do not like to take pictures in a forced way because the result will never be the same compared to when you feel like taking them, although it may seem a lie the photos can be an x-ray of the moods of people.
But well, focusing on this group of captures that I want to share with you today, I tell you that they were a series of pets and street animals that are always around the area where I live. Taking pictures of animals can be more complicated than it seems because they are very restless, well cats not so much because curiosity calls them but they are very scary and fearful. But dogs will always be moving from one side to the other making it impossible to take a good picture of them.
Asking a dog to pose is complicated unless it is trained, that's why the best thing to do is to capture them in two ways: call them and have them come to you and right there you take the pictures or distract them with something close to the camera so they can stare and you can also take a nice portrait of them. The truth is that if there is any photographer reading this that has never taken pictures of a furry person, then come to my recommendation. It is an exercise that helps to sharpen the eye, to have control of the camera because the object will always be moving and therefore to be very aware of the focus points.
The first photo of the white dog I used the tactic of calling him and making him come to me and with this second one basically what I did was to distract him and call his attention and as you can see he was petrified watching me. For these photos I set my camera with a single point of focus or single focus and always manual. It is very rare that I take pictures in automatic mode because although you gain time all the work is done by the camera for you and usually I like to have control of all the parameters to be able to adjust them to the needs and tastes of the moment.
With cats, as I said, it's more different. They are like statues if you don't get too close to them, that's why here it applies to have a lens or objective with a medium range. Mine is a 70-200 mm which helps me to take pictures at certain distances but when I need to get closer I can do it without problems. With these cats I had to get as far away as possible because they are strays and the distrust of them is sometimes great. Luckily the photos turned out well and after a simple development job in Lightroom the final result was as expected.
But while walking and looking for these furry companions it was inevitable for me not to take pictures of what has become a habit in these parts. It's hard to find something that I haven't taken a picture of but fortunately nature is wide and varied so there will always be something new hidden out there and I may have found it.
Taking pictures of these small flowers has always seemed very relaxing to me because when you edit them you see them as if they were totally different worlds, ecosystems taken from the movie Avatar. You feel that through the tiny branches are going to come out beings with curious lamps to then fly away on any flying creature. Photography is this my friends, it is creativity and being able, from nothing, to create worlds that are in our mind but that the viewer is able to see and connect as well.
But nature is not always beautiful, or it is, but in a different way, and not all plants are there to please the eye, they are simply there to survive in the environment in which they live. But then how do you take a picture of something that is not so striking? - Because beauty is relative and will always depend on the eye with which you look at it. Along these lines in the past I have always said that nature is perfect in spite of its shapes and contours and that is something that many may not appreciate.
These small cacti, although they don't look at all flashy, caught my attention because at first glance you wonder, how do I take a picture that looks good? - I think there is no way to do it. Simply what you have to do is to respect their physiognomy and understand that all those thorns are also striking in photos. What I wanted to do is to show the details of the thorns in the best way possible, since they are the essence of the plant.
Anyway, for today I didn't want to focus only on flora and plants but I wanted to bring you something new and different. Taking pictures of animals is something I have done about twice in my life and I didn't know I enjoyed it so much so it is very likely that I will repeat the formula in the not too distant future. We'll see when we'll see each other again but in the meantime I hope you enjoy these pictures.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
