Yes, the last few weeks have been filled with long walks, mountain climbs and bike rides for me. This has allowed me to visit some places I haven't been to in years or even decades. Obviously, it has also allowed me to take a lot of photos and create some pretty documentary posts here on #Hive, based mainly on the gradual recording of the natural and rural landscape in my surroundings. But not all of my photos have ended up in those posts... I have shot photographs each of these days intended to document my content and also photographs that serve as a creative base for my frequent editing and post-processing exercises. So my today's post is based on images in which I have taken some “photographic license” (something akin to “poetic license, as it occurs to me) and have played with lights, tones, temperatures, contrasts and even cropping and compositions as my creative muse has dictated...

Sí, las ultimas semanas han estado repletas de largas caminatas, ascensos a las montañas y paseos en bicicleta para mi. Esto me ha permitido visitar algunos lugares a los cuales no había ido en años e incluso en décadas. Obviamente, también esto me ha permitido hacer un montón de fotos y crear algunas publicaciones bastante documentales aquí en #Hive, basadas principalmente el el registro paulatino del paisaje natural y rural en mis alrededores. Pero no todas mis fotos han ido a parar a esos posts... Cada uno de estos días he disparado fotografías destinadas a documentar mi contenido y también fotografías que me sirviesen como base creativa para mis frecuentes ejercicios de edición y post-procesado. Así que mi publicación de hoy está basada en imágenes en las que me he tomado cierta "licencia fotográfica" (algo parecido a la "licencia poética, según se me ocurre) y he jugado con las luces, los tonos, las temperaturas, los contras tes e incluso con recortes y composiciones según mi musa creativa me lo ha dictado...

I chose for this publication typically rural photographs, all taken during a morning in the first days of January. On that day I had at my disposal a generously sunny dawn with skies barely sprinkled with a few clouds. Under these conditions it is often the case that, taking photographs in open spaces (and these I made in a wide valley mostly used for agriculture) is somewhat different when pointing East with the sun still close to the horizon, than when pointing South/North or even West, with foregrounds and horizons very evenly lit and more easily manageable than the awkward and complex backlighting of when shooting in the direction of the sun.... I would say, this even makes it feel like you're shooting in two or three different places but in the same time frame.... Something quite fun to do by the way!...

Escogí para esta publicación fotografías típicamente rurales y hechas todas durante una mañana de los primeros días de enero. Ese día tuve a mi disposición un amanecer generosamente soleado con cielos apenas salpicados por algunas nubes. Bajo estas condiciones suele suceder que, hacer fotografías en espacios abiertos (y estas las hice en un amplio valle destinado en su mayoría a la agricultura) sea algo distinto cuando se apunta hacia el Este con el sol aún cercano al horizonte, que cuando se apunta a Sur/Norte o incluso el oeste, con primeros planos y horizontes iluminados de forma muy pareja y más fácilmente gestionable que los incómodos y complejos contraluces de cuando se dispara en dirección al sol... Yo diría, que esto hace que se tenga incluso la sensación de estar haciendo fotografías en dos o tres lugares diferentes pero en un mismo espacio de tiempo... ¡Algo bastante divertido de hacer por cierto!...

Once you have a group of photos taken under these complex lighting conditions and whose compositional elements include blue skies, direct sunlight, horizons with mountains, first planes with grasslands or plow furrows and even reflections of trees in the waters of a lake, then it is very difficult not to give in to the temptation to play with colors and lights to the point of making these photos look like I want them to look in my mind... That is, I “idealize” them a bit as I see fit... Besides, the constant change of the environment and its own diversity from one stretch to another, is something that lends itself to make this type of photographic work in which one experiments at pleasure...

Una vez tienes un grupo de fotos tomadas bajo estas condiciones lumínicas complejas y cuyos elementos compositivos incluyen cielos azules, luz solar directa, horizontes con montañas, primeros planos con pastizales o surcos de arado e incluso reflejos de árboles en las aguas de un lago, entonces es muy difícil no ceder ante la tentación de jugar con los colores y las luces hasta el punto de hacer ver estas fotos de hacerlas lucir como las deseo en mi mente... Es decir, "las idealizo" un poco según me parece... Además, el cambio constante del entorno y su propia diversidad de un tramo a otro, es algo que se presta para hacer este tipo de trabajos fotográficos en los cuales se experimenta a placer...

It's funny, but a year ago it would have seemed almost impossible to spend an entire morning taking landscape photos under harsh sunlight with a clear sky. Nor would the warm colors of early January (typical of the approaching dry season) be something to use in my photographic repertoire months ago. So from my point of view, this is a bit of an “evolution” in my photography hobby. Although maybe it would be correct to call it “revolution” as well... :)

Es curioso, pero hace un año atrás me hubiese parecido casi imposible pasar una mañana entera haciendo fotos de paisajes bajo la dureza de la luz del sol con un cielo despejado. Tampoco los colores cálidos de los primeros días de Enero (típicos de cuando se avecina la estación seca) serían algo para usar en mi repertorio fotográfico meses atrás. Así que desde mi punto de vista, esto es un poco de "evolución" en mi afición por la fotografía. Aunque quizás sería correcto llamarlo "revolución" también... :)

I have a lot of 2025 ahead of me to tour the lots of natural and rural spaces around me. So I will surely continue to share with you here on #Hive lots of photos from all this... I hope I do!... ;)

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
