Like The Heat Durban Will Welcome You
No recent rain Durban's climate may indicate being in the thirty degrees Celsius, always add addition four percent to account for the humid conditions, clammy, balmy heat that feels like a hot wet blanket thrown over you, is a descriptive assumption.
What was brilliant green two weeks ago has now turned to scorched earth, with much drooping going yellow/brown crunchy grass beneath your feet, looking to the horizon for a glimmer of hope in rain arriving soon. Be gone with Summer bring on Autumn is my favourite tune every year, that's too much like wishing your life away!
Enough ranting about my discomfort, after a few hours with no electricity now happy to be back under the air conditioner to share some of the summer visitors over the last couple of days. Durban is known to be the place with no winter....
Presently the Cape are trying to survive extreme fires during their dry Summer season. Brave folk fighting the flames in many places at this time of year, I should not complain, we know not what we have till it is no longer there.
Agama lizard settled on the Cycad trunk waiting for the morning sun, we have had a healthy number around the garden this year.
Another lizard crossing our path in the shade on the ground, obviously heading to find the sun for an afternoon session warming up on the wall.
Male vervet enjoying the bird seed on one side of the house....
Around the corner the females with younger vervet monkey population enjoy themselves looking for whatever they are able to eat. Protect our food and farmers!
Some insect on researching closest description I am able to establish is a Crane fly or Long-legged mosquitoes insect family member, awesome looking species none the less.
Katydid the second time seeing one out and about, this time on the passion fruit vine.
Late night brought another visitor indoors in the shape of Comma Nephele Hawk-moth something we don't stumble into in the passage too often.
Perhaps the proverb is giving me direction, hope everyone has enjoyed their Sunday.

Thought for Today: " If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen." African Proverb.
