Time seems to have stopped in Humahuaca, Argentina.
The alleys and houses display recall a city of the colonial era.
Also, the origin of the city name is linked to the Indian people of Omaguacas.
We took a nice stop there before a nice hike in the famous Quebrada de Humahuaca.
The quebrada around the city is a must.
The view on the mountains is amazing and we come across some harsh climate that generate some cool images like this one.
The Quebrada de Humahuaca is a narrow mountain valley of about 155 km (96 mi) long.
The province of Jujuy is in a desertic area where we can see beautiful landscape and a lot of cactus.
Did you know that there is around 1750 known species of cactus and that almost all of them are succulents ?
The word quebrada in Spanish means broken in English and it is a nice way to describe the valley or ravine that makes up the quebrada.
We went through paths that were not too recommended, but we loved our walk.
The colors of the rock formation surrounding us is magical.
To really appreciate this area, I recommend going there during the low season to find yourself there alone.
We were alone that day and it was even more interesting.
