Last year, I talked about how I'm not a fan of beauty photography, because of the amount of time it took to get done. And also because it didn't just connect to me on a personal basis.
Anyway, I did learn beauty photography and I decided to try again. This time with my friend Stephanie who I hadn't seen in years. So this session was more of a reunion than an actual photoshoot.
We had the photo session last week, and I completed the editing 2 days ago. I was greatly impressed by the results I achieved. And maybe I might do more beauty sessions before the year runs out.
Check out results from the session;
It took me roughly 5 hours to edit 3 images. Doesn't sound like so much time yea? But it is. Especially for a guy who colorgrades several photographs under 10minutes. Well, it was 5 hours well spent.
Stephanie's skin texture and skin tone ensured I was able to spend only about 5 hours though. Her skin is amazing. Black skin tones are so mesmerizing. It's the ability to tweak them into different shades that blows my mind.
I went ahead to try other shades, but my final selection was my favourite, and other people's favorite as well.
To show the amount of work done on the photograph, I paired it with the original.
Here's before and after 😁
Yea! That's how before looked. Frequency separation really should be called "cosmetic surgery".
I created the photos with a 3-light setup. I shot with a Nikon D750 and an 85mm prime lens. Here's EXIF;
I hope you liked the photos. Please leave CC in the comments section. Thank you very much and have an amazing day.
