Happy New Year! 2023 is the year of the rabbit and is especially called a Mizunoto U (癸卯) Year. It will be a Yin year. Mizunoto is associated with the element “water” and U (rabbit) is associated with the element “wood.”
I love to take photos of shrine gates (Torii 鳥居) even though I don't know why. I took these Torii gate photos in Japan before. Some of them were in winter. Some of them were in summer. People enjoy visiting shrines any season. Torii has different types and colours. I like the red ones. The contrast of the Torii’s red is very beautiful in snow or on a sunny summer day.

２０２３年、明けましておめでとうございます！今年は卯年でさらに癸卯年ともいうそうです。陰陽五行説では、癸が水の陰のエネルギーを表し、卯が木の陰のエネルギーを表すとのことです。
わたしはなぜか鳥居の写真を撮るのが好きなようです。この鳥居の写真コレクションは以前日本で撮ったものです。冬の鳥居の写真や夏の鳥居の写真があります。どんな季節でもさまざまな人たちが神社を訪れます。鳥居は色んな種類や色があります。わたしは赤い鳥居が好きです。鳥居の赤い色が、冬の雪や晴れた夏の空にも映えます。
