This week the qurator’s photo contest theme is PURPLE.
So I started browsing through my portfolio, wondering if I had anything that truly felt purple, maybe not just colorful, but also expressive.
And that’s when I came across this small and hopefull beautiful series.
These images feature BOUGAINVILLEA SPECTABILIS — a plant that often surprises people. What looks like vibrant purple petals are actually bracts, not flowers at all. The real flowers are small, pale and hidden inside.
Nature loves playing with perception and Bougainvillea does it beautifully.
I focused on close-ups and macro details, letting texture, structure and light speak for themselves. No wide views, no garden context, just color, form and surface. Purple reduced to its essence.
This series became a small visual study of how much character a single color can hold when you get close enough.
Thank you to the qurator for the theme and good luck to everyone taking part.
Purple has many languages — this is mine. I hope you will enjoy it!
