Chasing Clear Skies in Chabówka
Yesterday I headed out to Chabówka in search of clear skies. All the cloud forecast models were showing a small “island” of clear weather in a sea of clouds over Poland, right over the Podhale region. It looked like my best chance.
The plan was simple: capture the setting Milky Way over Babia Góra.
As usual, I arrived 10 minutes too late for sunset 😃
But no big deal — the conditions still looked promising. For a moment.
That tiny cloud hovering near Babia Góra started to grow minute by minute, slowly but relentlessly. Before I knew it, it had swallowed almost the entire western horizon. And just to make things more interesting, after nightfall more clouds began drifting in from other directions.
At that point, all the signs in the sky were pretty clear. The Milky Way wasn’t going to show itself this time. The only place I was going to see it was in my imagination, somewhere on the drive back home.
Still, nights like these are part of the game. Sometimes you come back with photos, sometimes with a story — and sometimes with both.
