In Canada, the seasons are marked by extreme changes in the weather and overt transformations of the vegetation around us. Trust me on this, no one here likes to see the end of Summer or be reminded of what lies ahead weatherwise. The changes in the seasons do come with some silver linings. Plant pigmentation is one of them. The changes in the leaves are vibrant as the days get shorter, making the trees burst with an array of textures and hues that bring about cheerfulness and joy to what would otherwise be a depressing turn of season. Festivals abound during the fall. It's the end of the harvest season, when the bounty of the land lifts our spirits because we know we've done what we could to prepare for the coming winter. Or perhaps we didn't prepare, which in case we can still enjoy the beautiful fall colours as we cry over our pumpkin lattes.
So come along with me and enjoy some colours of the Fall from the Pacific Northwest of Canuckland.
