Today I take you along to a rather hidden šš» and a more known beach in the WESTERN HIGHLANDS of SCOTLAND. I visited them with family that came to visit while we lived in the #highlands. I was showing them the stunning beauty of the Assynt region. I will show you both amazing locations, so when you visit the area⦠you can check them out too. They are stunning! Believe me they are so worth the drive over small and twisty roads ~ Here are CLASHNESSIE bay and ACHMELVICH beach in LAIRG, SCOTLAND š“ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó “ó æ that is part of the UK š¬š§

Todayās photographic selection will be of 15 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date : 13 FEBRUARY 2023
The Photographs in this post are taken with my CANONR5 and iPhone
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to discover everything what I saw, like the little details seen through my eyes.
Letās start at THE ACHMELVICH BEACH in Lairg first, the more popular one, an easy stop while you drive the NC500 route with your car.
More information about this stunning beach you find here: Achmelvich beach and bay! and here: Achmelvich bay - visit Scotland
Location of the popular beach we find on the following screenshot of Google Maps :
~ As it was in the middle of February, we were alone⦠no tourists around. So we could enjoy a walk along the beach. Just the way I like it hehe
The sand is soft and the views are just stunning.
Next to the beach we find some sand dunes⦠it was a very windy day but we enjoyed wandering over the sand a lot. The sea breeze was so refreshing.
The family that visited, included Ryder, the dog I have introduced to you before. Sadly he is no longer with us since last summer.
He soooo enjoyed the beach. Running between us.
Let me show you the beautiful turquoise waters⦠even in the winter they pop. Imagine on a sunny summers day: it almost feels Caribbean.
The waves came rolling in softly. A gentle foam on their edges.
The water is crystal clear as you can see. A perfect beach to swim. Just not in the winter. hahaha ok, yes, maybe for a brave soul.
The sun shines a little and lights up the top of the cliffs/ rocks in the distance.
Looking to the other end of the beach, typical highland vegetation that tells⦠we are very north in the western highlands.
Last capture of the waves⦠such a beautiful fresh energy. One can recharge their body and soul here.
Just behind the dunes⦠there are walking paths that lead to the only parking area where we had parked our car.
After a little while and a good walk, we went back to the car to check out some other areas⦠we visited another beach and an amazing waterfall. (I will share another day)
We will go now to the rather hidden beach⦠most wont find or stop at. It is not marked on google maps.
The location of this stunning beach you find in the following screenshot of google maps where I dropped a pin:
Letās call it Clashnessie beach as it is the name of the little hamlet next to it.
For reference⦠both beaches are on opposite sides of the landtong / headland above Lochinver in Scotland.
The drive along the B869 road is a bit tricky⦠but believe me, it is worth it.
More information about this area you find here: Clashnessie Wikipedia!
On the side of the small countryside road is a little parking bay one can park a car or two.
Our views towards the beach and little bay:
Walking towards the beach we see the sand is much darker and the landscape / scenery is rougher. In my opinion more beautiful than the pristine first more popular beach.
I like the flow of the water⦠that marked the beach, the grasses and the distance views.
A few small croft cottages in the distance. Driving towards this area, one can come across some sheep wandering over the road. We did a few timesā¦
Even when we wanted to leave this bay⦠but that and the waterfall is a story for another time ;)
ā¦and here I say thatās all for todayās post my friends.
