The drone show starts with the See Monster logo
The umbrella is an important part of the great British weather
Here's the oil rig being lifted by crane onto the legs to become the See Monster
A pair of cute ducks, I can't remember where they fit in the story, maybe nature...
Cloud formation
Wind turbine features on the See Monster generating energy that will be used to power the artwork
Everything revolves around the one and only world we have
And the final scene, such a lovely touch to the town
The drones making their way back to base after the performance
And they change colour as they leave until they're finally all gone
Yesterday I posted about the See Monster and that they are kicking off the project with an event called the Awakening. Today I want to share with you what the Awakening is.
If you saw the British Platinum Jubilee celebrations a few months ago, you might have noticed there was a drone show one evening displaying a lot of objects relating to the UK and the royal family. That was a massive hit with people, and the team behind that project has prepared another drone show for the See Monster that involves 400 drones.
The first show was a couple of nights ago and attracted thousands of people who lined up on the seafront to see the show. I've never seen our town so busy before. Tonight was the second show and although I've seen it once before and the surprise element wasn't there, it was still a spectacular show. It was so fascinating to see the clear blue sky suddenly light up with so many dots, dancing around and suddenly forming different objects and words. Every scene they performed was related to the See Monster project and our town.
We started off with the See Monster logo, something that I've become very familiar with recently. Then we had a series of weather and nature related objects as that's what the project is about - umbrella, cloud, wind turbine, ducks, and the globe. And the final scene was Thank you Weston. I think that's a lovely touch as there's been so much delay in the project that some of the locals definitely have not been happy with the progress. I think the See Monster may have redeemed itself now!
These images really don't do itself justice as the whole drone show is really amazing. There will be a third and final show in a couple of days time. I'm planning to take a video so you can see for yourself and hopefully enjoy the show as much as I did. Stay tuned!
