The most famous desert in Morocco is the Sahara, this space spans 9 million square kilometers, it is as big as China. It is the closest desert to the city of Marrakech and it is also the largest desert in the world. The Sahara does not cover only Moroccan territory, it covers other countries: Tunisia, Algeria, Western Sahara, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Egypt, Sudan and Chad. Every year, millions of tourists come to the Sahara to discover this highly touristic place, thus encouraging agencies to offer itineraries in this area. The Sahara Desert can be separated into two main areas: Zagora Desert and Merzouga Desert.
