Something else I was able to find in this place were stories, hundreds of stories to tell with my camera!
Algo que yo tambien pude encontrar en este lugar fueron historias, cientos de historias por contar con mi camara!
I usually come to this market frequently, at least 2 or 3 times a month, to buy a couple of things for my home, and I had always wanted to take photographs here but didn't dare, fearing my camera would be stolen or I would have a bad time. However, after taking photographs and videos with my phone, I realized it was completely possible to do it with my camera, and finally, one day I gathered the courage and made it a reality.
Suelo venir a este mercado frecuentemente, al menos 2 o 3 veces al mes a comprar un par de cosas para mi hogar y siempre habia querido hacer fotos aqui pero no me atrevia por miedo a que me robaran la camara o pasar un mal rato pero luego de hacer fotos y videos con mi telefono me dí cuenta de que era totalmente posible hacerlo con mi camara y finalmente un dia me atreví y lo hice una realidad.
Lots of people kept looking at me because I was walking around with a professional camera in my hand, "spamming" photographs wherever I went. And even though people stared at me a lot, nothing bad happened. I even struck up a conversation with a couple of curious people, but nothing bad occurred.
Muchisima gente se me quedaba mirando porque iba caminando con una camara profesional en la mano "spameando" fotos a donde quiera que fuera, y aunque las personas me miraban mucho no sucedió nada malo, incluso llegué a entablar conversación con un par de curiosos pero nada malo sucedió.
I had always wanted to take photographs here, and I'm glad I finally dared. I feel like each of these people has a story to tell.
In the future, I'd like to talk more with them and tell their individual stories. For now, I'm happy to have taken this first step and at least be able to tell their stories visually.
Siempre habia querido hacer fotografias aqui y me alegro de porfin haberme atrevido, siento que cada una de estas personas tiene una historia por contar.
Me gustaria en un futuro poder conversar mas con ellas y contar sus historias individuales, por ahora me alegro de haber dado este primer paso y al menos poder contar sus historias visualmente.
Although I mostly publish in black and white, I felt that these photographs could only convey the market's magic and diversity if they were in color.
