Today I share some beautiful images of the bay of Pampatar seen from the castle of San Carlos de Borroneo, located in the vicinity of the town of Pampatar on the island of Margarita Venezuela.
The Castillo San Carlos de Borromeo was built in the 17th century to protect the port of Pampatar from the attack of pirates. For a long time it was the most sophisticated military construction on the island and today it is one of the best preserved from the colonial era. Its base structure draws a star shape and contains characteristic elements of fortresses of this type such as drawbridges, a cannon court and even a moat that surrounds the entire fort. Every year hundreds of people visit this castle, which is definitely a valuable historical heritage and a curious tourist attraction. If you come to La Margarita, be sure to visit it and enjoy taking pictures from different angles.
