##### For this photographic story I chose the remote mountain village of Pirin because its few inhabitants still preserve Bulgarian folklore.
The area around the village holds deep secrets about Bulgaria's past. The daily life of the local people is the same as it was centuries ago.Money has no power there, and traditions and culture distinguish people into bad and good. The essentially bad people in these lands have long since fled to work for a wage. You must be a true patriot, leaving today's pleasures to others.
The girls' costumes are authentic. They were made 100 years ago by hand. Bulgarian embroidery is more beautiful than the most fashionable commercial brands today. Can you imagine that people in the past worked and celebrated in these clothes...
I don't know about you, but I would definitely replace the mundane city life by going to live in one of those villages. The backyard is freedom, and closeness to nature brings life.
Many years ago in the village of Pirin lived 2500 villagers. Now its population is down to just 50 people. Talk to me more about politics...
