Macro photography is one of my favorite types of photography. It can be challenging but also its the type of photography where you don't have to travel far to find opportunities. For these images I was using a Nikon 60mm macro. The biggest advantage to this focal length is that you can get quite close to the subject. The disadvantage is you risk scaring off your subject so I always take a slower more methodical approach when insects are involved.

A fly clinging to a flower pedal. This little bug was about the size of a small ant. Being able to get closer I am able to make the tiny fly appear much larger.

It looks like a fly, its abdomen is striped like a wasp or a bee. From above I wasn't able to even see it, once I got lower to the ground I saw this creature just hanging there.
