I was inspecting my mountain bike after today's ride and thinking how far cycling tech has gone. Back in the 2000's we used to ride 26" wheels and hydraulic breaks were unimaginable. Air suspension was only for professionals. I remember the first time I saw a 21-speed aluminium mountain bike. What a machine! All that lays in the past.
Modern mountain bikes only lack an engine to be a motorbike. Powerful hydraulic breaks, air/oil suspension, 21/24/27 speeds gave place to 12 speed in a single cassette, 29" wheels absolutely devour rocks. It doesn't stop there: Later tech includes e-bikes that can propel a rider uphill at absurd speeds and derailleurs (the part that changes the gears) can be electronic too. One can sit and admire the engineering applied to the parts and wonder how future bikes will be. I don't know you, but I'll stick to the good ole man-powered mountain bike.
Well... so we get to today's post. Out of sudden inspiration, I decided to take some B&W photos of my bicycle. Here's the results.
