Birtvisi is located in Kvemo Kartli region( Tetritskaro Municipality). It's around 60km from Tbilisi.
In Birtvisi you can see magnificent natural monument.
It will be better to visit this place in summer, spring or early autumn. If you want to see canyon best time is July or August.You'll need special equipment to visit whole canyon. You should know how to swim, cause in some places there is deep water.
Birtvisi is first mentioned as a possession of the Arab amir of Tiflis of which he was divested by the Georgian nobles Liparit, Duke of Kldekari in 1038. In medieval Georgia, Birtvisi entertained a reputation of an impregnable stronghold whose master could control the entire strategic Algeti gorge.
There you can see Birtvisi fortree , it is built of very big stones naturally lifted from the ground.(By the way Timur-Leng gathered special hunters and climbers to take the place after a useless 3 months encircling it)
Its possible to do day tour or stay in tent.

Algeti Water Reservoir
Its located also in Tetritskaro, near village Tbeti.
Reservoir is 60 m³.
Its used for irrigation.
