I have to admit that these images were very much spur of the moment shots.
I attended the funeral of a lady I knew a few months ago at Worksop Priory church, and during the mass we have the Thurifer who swings the Thurible. You may have seen this in Catholic masses, its a brass pot on a chain and inside are hot coals and the priest puts on incense and this makes smoke. The idea is that the smoke helps lifts the prayers to heaven, which seemed poignant after a funeral in a very packed church.
On a very sun day as this was, this have a great atmospheric affect when they highlight shafts of lights coming through the windows. They were pointed out to me in what is called the Lady Chapel so as I had my camera with my I took a few shots.
Each to there own but personally I find these images very peaceful, largely because of the setting, but also its natural and not staged or posed..
As a photographer I try to mix what I do in my shots, I've done still life, some macro work, lightpainting and I enjoy a good model shoot. If you'd like to check out any of my other work I'm on Facebook, or you can find me on Instagram under neilru75
Thanks very much for looking
