After getting some new blue presets last week, I've had the itch to get out and shoot some wildflowers as once added they give a whole new feel to the images. So earlier this week I mentioned this to who asked, where's that sunflower field in the Peak District? To which I rightly replied "No idea mate, but sign me up, lets go!"
An hour later (literally) we were in the car and heading off. We actually went to a sunflower field though at Barlow, near Chesterfield which was just as good. However also locked! We drove down the road past the field, and I could have hopped inthe field as I saw sunflowers in the middle of wild flowers, but there was a nasty ditch to cross, that was stone and rock in the bottom. I didn't fancy a broken leg in my future. So I said, "Well this is 20 minutes from where I work, I'm coming back tomorrow night!"
(Almost) 24 hours later..
No don't get the wrong idea, these sunflowers weren't 6 feet tall, more like 3, but I dropped my camera down to ground level to shoot up, bent my body into weird positions, and well I pretty much getting and hoped for the best to get something in focus :)
To give the scale of the place, actually this doesn't, but just to prove I wasn't just shooting in my back garden, I tried to show the field and a bit more scale..
As mentioned above there were also wild flowers with sunflowers dispersed between them that gave some lovely blurred depth of field (no pun intended) dreamy shots. It was a beautiful sunny night, definitely a stress reliever after sitting behind a desk all day at work..
As a photographer I try to mix what I do in my shots, I've done still life, some macro work, lightpainting and I enjoy a good model shoot. If you'd like to check out any of my other work I'm on Facebook, or you can find me on Instagram under neilru75
Thanks very much for looking
