I have been looking for a small camera to take with me on my travels this year, something that would work well as a good alternative to my larger (not much actually) Sony A7R3. Something that could sit in my pocket, takes up little space and is light to carry, yet can pull off some great imagery to boot. I chose the Ricoh GR IIIx.
My choice was based on the fact, some of my favourite online photographers own one and praise them very highly, people such as Sean Tucker, for example, Neale James, the host of podcast The Photowalk, have all convinced me, it was the ideal choice.
So I ordered one. Today it arrived!
It feels good in the hands, good ergonomics, it has the right kind of weight to it, if that makes sense and I found I could almost operate it single-handed. It fits in the pocket, really nicely too, so is very portable.
Do you like taking photos of your feet? I thought this image would make a good stock photo or a cover image for this post!
Spring has been odd so far, it has come on very fast but the weather is still quite cold. Now is the time to capture the verdant green colour of fresh leaves.
It's noticeable how most trees ae now showing signs of life and the landscape is looking wonderfully lush.
This is another version of the above image, that I edited in Lightroom a little bit to alter the colour grading. I am not sure which of the two I prefer to be honest but Lightroom offers a broad palette of different colour presets.
The GRIIIx has a great macro mode that operates at a 12cm focal length.
We stumbled upon this bluebell wood in the most unexpected of places. It just is too early for the bluebells to be this good, so early, normally we'll see them around the month of May, not April.
