In April 2019 we took our annual spring trip to the Caribbean to escape New Jersey winters. Granted April was a little late for that but better late than not at all, right?
Little did we know that we were not to return to Bonaire the following year. Off course, because space in this particular hotel/resort is limited we booked right away for early March 2020. And we all know what happened early in that year. The world as we knew it came to a stand-still and we were all locked down.
We were able to push our booking to the next year. Yet 2021 didn't turn out any better than 2020 and here we are now - February 2022.
Up until the day that we flew I said I believe that we're going on vacation when I'm on the plane. There was just too much anxiety, too much could go wrong. Would Bonaire lock down again to keep omicron out? Catch omicron last minute, fail the 24 hour test, on top of lots of work, dropping off our pets at the boarding place etc. etc. etc. This anxiety didn't pair well with trying to blog here on Hive either.
Suffice to say this time around everything went according to plan so far and 3 years later we are finally back on Bonaire. There is still the return Covid test to get back into the US. But for now I'll stay positive and enjoy our time here on the island.
You better be prepared for some Caribbean colors in your feed.
The reason we're returning to specifically this hotel on Bonaire every year are the tradewinds and Lac Bay. A big lagoon with a very shallow but also a deep part separated from the open ocean by a reef. It is perfect for all levels of windsurfing, which is what we like to do whenever and wherever possible.
So far we have been on and in the water every single day. And it has been wonderful. It certainly makes up for all the stress and anxiety and then some.
I was even inspired a little creatively and made this Caribbean sunset inspired blog divider. If you like it you may use it in your own posts, no need to credit or tag me. Enjoy!
Till next time.
Cheers,
