Back in September 2020, we made a journey to sunny Croatia. This post is about short hike in National park Risnjak in Primorje-Gorski Kotar county. Sit back, relax and enjoy beautiful mountains of Croatia :-D
The way up goes through forest, no views there. At certain point forest ends and you are rewarded with wonderful views of the landscape with distant mountains. The sea is more on the left (not in the picture, the sun was too bright back then, so the sea resembled a very shinning mirror). A great distance from here, there is the border with Slovenia, perhaps some of the depicted mountains are high Slovenian mountains?
Getting closer to the summit.
Still following the narrow pathway, meeting very few hikers all in all.
View of inland (Slovenia/Croatia, half-sure).
In the middle, another beauty, (Veliki) Risnjak (1528 m.a.s.l.).
Zooming in on Risnjak. Actually I googled and found there is a nice chalet, Schlosserov dom.
Finally, our point of interest. Snježnik (1505 m.a.s.l.).
Panoramic shot from the top of the mountain.
Windy up there, believe me.
Wind is that strong, we better descend a little to find a windless spot where we enjoy some high quality beer we have come across.
A roof down there? Read on!
Another ridge worth walking through. A white-red communications tower on the right.
The roof belongs to the chalet of the same name. Sadly, the building, beneath the summit Snježnik, is in a dismal condition.
