I have the luck to be staying just a few km away from Marburg which is the nearest city. Not a big city with a population of 80.000 people but big enough to worth the effort. I'm more than happy to find out that they have parking spots for motorcycles just outside the Philips University which is hosted in the following building:
Speaking of buildings most of them around are interesting to my eyes as they look far from Mediterranean ones. While picturing the next one I also caught that flying bird on the top left:
Unintentionally of course 🙂 That old one in the background stands out compared to the new ones:
This one is the ultra tall Elisabethkirche.
Next to Philips University one can find the remains of Elisabeth's Hospital:
She founded it back in the 1200s as a chapel but actually intending to make it a place to host the poor people. Some say she's also buried here. It's interesting to read about it.
The morning sun flatters the buildings ahead:
So I say goodbye to Elisabeth's church,
and continue my walk as I have lots to see on this nice day.
This is part of the local University complex:
The size of its library is impressive:
But I am aiming at the garden next to the library which look rather tempting as I take those steps down:
That's the Botanic Garden of the University hence its trees are tagged:

This is the building of the Pharmacology/Biology department of the University to which one has view fro the heart of this garden:
As you can imagine some trees are pretty old:
Old or new, all of them combined with the rest of the vegetation create a soothing environment for your eyes to rest:
And when your eyes might had enough of green, water comes in to add some (also soothing) diversity:
Of course, as you can see, the water is also "condemned" by green so it's still a green kingdom around here. It's just that due to the water this guy caught a fish almost as tall as him:
I don't want to caption the next one "loneliness is such a drag" cause I don't want to affect the luck of this beautiful girl in the middle enjoying her book in this heaven:

I'm done with the garden and walk back to my bike which is patiently waiting for me where I left it:
A short ride through the city brings me to the hill where the park and palace complex is. I leave my bike with some company as this walk is expected to be much longer,
And I start walking up to the top. The view to the city behind those bars looks already promising,
but I still have way to go:
At the last stairs I am welcomed by this pair of lions:
It's all as green as it gets in here:
And I am not done with stairs yet:
No more stairs, just a nicely paved path which already makes me feel that it worth the effort:
The last part of this path that you see just above leads me to the rose garden of the palace which is hard to tell how nice it feels in real. The pictures capture just a small part of its super dense beauty:
As you can see they have gathered all sorts of roses you can imagine here. And built this pavilion right in the center:
