I want to show you some early morning landscape pictures that I took on the morning of the previous Jackal Buzzard post.
Like I said somewhere else, our spring season has arrived a month before it normally arrives in September, and we are now only in the starting blocks of August.
This is about the limit of distances that we can travel during a power cut, as we have to get back when the power cut expires to carry on with our work. But of course, I wasted no time to get the camera out as my first sight was the predator birds in the previous post. After I had taken the bird images, it was in my mind to show you some pictures of the area and I hope that you will enjoy the outing.
People grow these Torch cactuses (Trichocereus spachianus) in tiny flowerpots that they buy in the garden nurseries, but here they grow wild, and each segment is about 1 meter long. Standing like thorny sentinels to guard the mountain.
It was a lovely sunny morning, and the colors were simply amazing all round. So, I just took random photos to place in this post.
And finally, that is the road that was waiting to take us back home.
Oh yeah, stunning scenery to start the day always puts me in a good mood and no need for a jacket to ward of the winter cold is always a great plus factor. The bad news is that the news is out that this was our warmest winter and that means that our summer temperatures are expected to climb into the 40+ Celcius degrees. They blame it on a fella called El Nino :)
Here's something interesting to read.
Climate change in South Africa is leading to increased temperatures and rainfall variability. Evidence shows that extreme weather events are becoming more prominent due to climate change. This is a critical concern for South Africans as climate change will affect the overall status and wellbeing of the country, for example with regards to water resources. Just like many other parts of the world, climate research showed that the real challenge in South Africa was more related to environmental issues rather than developmental ones. The most severe effect will be targeting the water supply, which has huge effects on the agriculture sector. Speedy environmental changes are resulting in clear effects on the community and environmental level in different ways and aspects, starting with air quality, to temperature and weather patterns, reaching out to food security and disease burden.
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
